Need for Speed™ Most Wanted 2005

NFS Most Wanted

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a 2005 racing game developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts. It is the ninth chapter in the Need for Speed (NFS) series. The game features street racing oriented gameplay, with certain customization options from the Need for Speed: Underground series. The game was replaced by Need for Speed: Carbon, which served as the sequel to Most Wanted.
Most Wanted has been released for the Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance platforms and is the first Need for Speed game released for the seventh generation console, Xbox 360, as one of the system's launch titles. Another version of Most Wanted, entitled Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0 has been released for the PlayStation Portable. In May 2012, a PlayStation 2 version was released on the online virtual marketplace, the PlayStation Store, for the PlayStation 3, but was removed from storefronts later that year - due to the announcement on June 1, 2012, a reboot of the game, also called Need for Speed: Most Wanted. , is being developed by the UK development team Criterion Games and released on 30 October 2012.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted received positive reviews and was a commercial success; sold 16 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling title in the series.

Gameplay
Most Wanted is like other Need for Speed games, where the player chooses one car and races against the clock or another racer to reach the goal. Police chases have once again been integrated into certain racing sessions, where police use vehicles and tactics to stop the player's car and arrest the player, such as Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. car controls are faster and rely more and more on speed-boosting nitric oxide (Nitro), the oxide meter now refills automatically for the first time since its introduction in Underground, and driving sequences become fast-paced and intense similar to the Burnout series.

Three different areas are offered in the city of Rockport, along with cycling weather. Racing events take place between sunrise and sunset, unlike in Underground where events take place at night. A Free Roam-like Grand Theft Auto mode is provided as in Need for Speed: Underground 2, but is still limited to Career mode, as well as chase-based events in other modes.

The brand promotion previously seen in Underground 2 is here too, with Old Spice, Burger King restaurant, Castrol oil, Ax Unlimited, and Edge shaving gel. The Cingular logo is still visible in the game's wireless communication system. The performance, body and visual parts that can be purchased in the game also come from real companies. However, Best Buy stores are not returning from Underground 2.

Mode
The game provides players with three game modes. Quick Race mode allows the player to choose a car and event and start the race immediately. Available cars and events are unlocked as players progress through the storyline in Career mode. Achieve goals by winning races and performing action completions, nicknamed "Milestones", during police chases, as well as a minimum Bounty required to progress in the storyline and race against any of the 15 racers in Blacklist mode. In the Xbox 360 version, players are awarded an award whenever a Blacklisted opponent is defeated. Career Mode introduces new features - the ability to win an opponent's Blacklist car ("pink slip"), bonus functions, extra money or auto parts and decorations, after defeating the respective opponent. These come in the form of six markers - a rival pink slip (which is disguised as a bonus marker), two bonus function markers, and three custom backroom section markers where there are body parts, visual enhancements, and a performance marker ("Junkman Marker") that can player selectable - where the player can choose only two. New cars and parts are also unlocked as players progress through Career mode by defeating Blacklist racers.

In addition to the Quick Race and Career modes, there is also a "Challenge Series" mode which involves 69 increasingly difficult challenges in which players are required to successfully complete Tollbooth races and chase challenges, such as tagging a number of police cars. The pre-tuned cars used in each Challenge are fixed, ranging from mostly poorly handled Career cars to traffic vehicles like dump trucks or police cars. Additional bonus cars can be unlocked as the player progresses through Challenge mode. Challenge Mode also has cheats; By entering the word 'burgerking', or for consoles by pressing a specific code on the d-pad, early in the game, players can take advantage of the exclusive Burger King challenge. Once completed, the game will give you something, like a "Junkman" section. You can equip these parts to your vehicle in the "My Cars" menu to give your car extra performance. These sections are not available in "Career Mode".

In terms of actual race variety, Most Wanted inherits some of the racing modes prevalent in its Underground predecessors. There are four game modes: circuit race, point-to-point Sprint race, Knockout Lap race and Drag race, remaining largely unchanged since the first Underground iteration, while Drifting, Street X, Underground Racing League tournaments and Outrun racing are removed. Meanwhile, Most Wanted saw the introduction of two new racing variations, which put an emphasis on speed. The first mode is known as Tollbooth, where a player runs alone to a designated checkpoint along a point-to-point route before time runs out; the more time players have when they reach the toll booth, the more time they have to arrive at the next door. The second mode, dubbed Speedtrap, sees racers competing against each other for the highest accumulated speed records across multiple traffic cameras. In speed trap/traffic camera, players accelerate their car to reach the highest speed. Accumulated speed decreases over a period of time after the opponent crosses the finish line first.
